CrossFit Community Helps Harvey Victims

Posted on November 1, 2017 by Andrea Maria

The text came moments after CrossFit Point Break owner Justin Stidham streamed a Facebook video showing his waterlogged affiliate in Spring, Texas.

It was Marco Coppola, owner of CrossFit OverTake, less than 5 miles away from Stidham’s gym. He wanted to help. Stidham told him he’d be cleaning all day. Coppola showed up with nearly a dozen people.

The same day, Aug. 30, Lance Miles also appeared with about 20 people from his affiliate, CrossFit Redefined in Spring.

“I didn’t even know they were coming,” Stidham said. “I guess he saw the post and just showed up.”

And CrossFit Conroe owner Daniel Brown arrived unannounced with five members of his gym, which sits 24 miles north of Spring.

With nearly 30 CrossFit Point Break members also there, the box was brimming with those trying to get the gym back to its pre-Hurricane Harvey status. They pulled out equipment, removed stall mats, bleached and dried floors, and cut out soaked sheetrock.

“At one point, we probably had over 60 people in our gym helpin’ clean it up,” Stidham recalled.

He added: “It was pretty awesome.”

It is a very thoughtful, yet very striking idea! I had always believed that doing more exercises is a solid solution for getting a healthy body. However, I forgot that a healthy and nutritious diet may also play an extremely important role. Golf is my favorite sport; however, there are not many exercises to do in these games. So, I have usually struggled to attempt to spend more time in other sports in order to keep fit. Now that I knew how intrigue diet can be in living healthy, I will adjust my diet reasonably and enjoy my favorite sport without worries. Thank you for the article!

I was able to catch the live of this in Youtube and it was a great conference. The speakers are well informed and knowledgeable about their topics. The Q&A also was informative which gave new insights to the said topics. Please make more conferences like these to inform the masses as the whole CrossFit community. Cheers!
